Wow is it the end of 2015 already? Wow again…..this year has literally flown by very fast. The Urban Jungle Bloggers topic to end the year 2015 is ‘My Planty Wishes 2016’…..it’s an expression of what all the lovely and creative bloggers of this plant loving community wants or desires for in the new year and having their say through plants.
Urban Jungle Bloggers is a monthly series hosted by Igor (Happy Interior Blog) and Judith (Joelix.com). Every month they share different ideas to create an urban jungle through styling ideas, DIY’s and green tricks and tips. You can also be a part of the fun by visiting their website. Stay inspired and welcome some green into your spaces.
I have created a calender for 2016 using all my beautiful lovely succulents and my favourite tiny birds that I absolutely adore. Let’s all get some green into our homes this new year. Have a peaceful and happy 2016.
And finally December. You can dowload a PDF version of the calender here. photo-calendar-2016-standard
With summer slowly behind us, I was thinking that it is time I start preparing my balcony garden for the colder months!! Of course a lot of the plants I have (the lovely succulents) will survive the winter, they just need to be brought indoors or covered during the frosty months, they are really hardy plants and like I keep saying so easy to love…..:) Here are a few photographs of my indoor succulents. I hope these will inspire you to start your own garden or maybe get started with a single planter…..try it, it’s fun…..:) Enjoy!!
The entrance hallway houses my indoor succulents…..
The succulents on an Ikea tray, the cushion, basket and metal rooster adds interest…..:)
A colourful ceramic planter, some recycled dessert bowls and an Ikea tray along with the succulents…..:)
From right…’Opuntia microdasys’ or ‘Bunny Ears Cactus’ is from Mexico and ‘Cylindropuntia spinosoir’ is a shrubby cactus found both in Mexico and Southern USA. They make great house plants….
The money plant is a really easy to grow indoor plant and can also be grown from stem cuttings…..using bright colourful planters makes the plants more attractive….:)
A South African succulent ‘Frithia pulchra’ has pretty white centred flowers…….
A few old Christmas decorations, an unused red Body Shop case and my lovely succulent….’Euphorbia inermis’
Colourful ceramic planters add cheer!!
Pretty aren’t they?

I hope you enjoyed this post. Start a green corner in your home or simply a planter!
I love gardening and think that plants can really be healing and uplift your spirits. We live in a rented apartment and its on the 7th floor so having a full fledged garden is a bit of a challenge. But the bright side of it is that we have a balcony and as they say where there is a will there is a way!!! I mostly have cacti and succulents growing in small pots as they are really resilient and easy to look after. Here are a few images to inspire you to start your own small garden!!!
