So I have been thinking a lot about dark and moody interiors as against all white Scandinavian style interior design. Dark is bold and does not necessarily have to be confining or overwhelming either. In many cases it does work very well. Take a look at ten spaces where dark, moody and sophisticated just all falls into place perfectly.

It’s usually materials which form the backbone of a dark, edgy and sophisticated interior scheme. In the image seen above it is slate, leather and black Italian marble.
Dark and edgy cannot get more polished and stylish than this. The oversized colorful floral print is of course the show stopper.
Pops of bright color in the form of accessories or furniture, in this instance the bright pink chairs takes the edge of darker interiors in a happy fun way.

I love the way white has been used to accentuate the dark grey walls in this cosy home in England.
Just love the idea of a black headboard wall. This bedroom does fall into the category of dark interiors but there is a fine balance due to ample light and the sexy white washed brick walls.
The dark ceilings totally work in this space because of the volume of the space and the balance created by the beautiful parquetry flooring.
Velvet is the fabric which is absolutely essential if you want to go for dark, moody interiors. I love this tufted green velvet sofa. It’s stunning.
The best way to take the edge off really dark panelled walls is using colorful furniture and accessories and velvet of course. It will make your space look really luxurious and sophisticated.
